The Broken Hill Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the NSW State Government to find a long term solution to providing small business advisory services to business operators in Far West NSW.
The NSW Government’s Small Biz Connect program has put in place an interim solution ensuring continuity of services to local businesses, since the Broken Hill Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) appointed Administrators on 20 January 2014.
“The Office of the Small Business Commissioner is committed to providing ongoing local, business advisory services in the Far West region. We have worked with the local community, the existing provider and the Administrators and negotiated new arrangements for the provision of face to face business advice to the Far West region,” Acting NSW Small Business Commissioner, Candace Barron, announced today.
As an interim solution, the Office of the Small Business Commissioner engaged the Business Enterprise Centre Parkes/Forbes to partner with the Broken Hill Chamber of Commerce to provide business advisory services. The Chamber will provide local coordination to ensure one-on-one business advice is available in the Broken Hill area.
“In making this decision, the Office of the Small Business Commissioner’s primary consideration was to ensure that the best possible business advisory services are available for small businesses in the Far West, while longer term arrangements are explored,” Ms Barron said.
“We want to ensure that these services stay in the region, therefore the Chamber is working very closely with the Office of the Small Business Commissioner to ensure that a viable long term solution can be found,” Broken Hill Chamber of Commerce Executive Officer, Anne Bransdon, said.
Small Biz Connect is a contemporary program which provides quality small business advice, resulting in accountability, accelerated growth and measurable outcomes for small businesses across NSW, with a particular focus on regional areas.
